About Me

Hi, I’m Jay - a science communicator, paleoartist, and television producer based in London.

I thrive at the crossroads of science and creativity, helping shape ambitious, visually stunning, and emotionally resonant programmes such as Earth, Walking with Dinosaurs, and Evolution.

I am driven to tell stories that represent the world as it is - beautiful, messy, and unabashedly diverse. My lived experiences as a queer trans woman, as an immigrant, and as a person of colour, inform my commitment and dedication to truly inclusive and representative science media. I believe wholeheartedly that our stories should be as gloriously weird as the world around us - and that they will be all the better for it.

I have an especially powerful fascination with all things prehistoric. There is a strange poetry to deep time - ancient life lost to the ages, with creatures more incredible than we could ever imagine and landscapes unlike any the world has seen since. Dinosaurs are the greatest draw for me, but it is that sheer scale, mystery, and drama of Earth’s layered history that sparked my love for science, and inspires my work to this day.

When I’m not at work, you’ll most often find me drawing dinosaurs, or working on my ever-expanding list of personal projects. This year, I’m working on developing a series of animated 2D prehistory films, as well as my first live action drama short.

To follow along with my journey (or if you just really like dinosaurs), please find me on social media under the handle @kakapojay.
